Bengisu Muazzez KURTULUŞ
She was born in Ankara in
1975. She finished her primary and secondary education in the same city. She
graduated from Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, Faculty of Arts and
Sciences, Biology Department. After graduation she began her career as a
teacher. She studied in Mersin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of
Painting between 2005 and 2011.
The thematic framework of her work has ranged from
contemporary problems of nature to societal relations, from the social status
of women to psychological and sociological implications of linguistic systems.
In addition to her art work that has dealt with the ongoing anti-nuclear
resistance, she has staged performances that have attempted to raise awareness
on existing or potential ecological crisis. She has examined the issues of
identity, class, and gender on the axis of cultural and biological diversity.
Currently, she produces personal and collective works in Frog Art Studio in
Mersin.
